Behold This Heart

"Behold this Heart which so much loved men, that it spared nothing, even to exhausting Itself, in order to give them testimony of Its love...," (words of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque when He appeared to her before the Blessed Sacrament). As Jesus spoke, flames burst from His Heart symbolizing His burning love for us and His great desire that we love Him. Jesus promised to extend great love and mercy to those who adore and honor Him in the Holy Eucharist!

On adoring the Blessed Sacrament, Pope John Paul II writes, "It is invaluable to converse with Christ and, leaning against Jesus breast like his beloved disciple, we can feel the infinite love of his Heart. We learn to know more deeply the One who gave himself totally, in the different mysteries of his divine and human life, so that we may become disciples and in turn enter into this great act of giving, for the glory of God and the salvation of the world." (1996 Corpus Christi letter)

"Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy." Jesus told St. M. Faustina that the Blessed Sacrament is the "throne of mercy on earth," and to daily "Adore, in the Blessed Sacrament, My Heart, which is full of mercy." (Divine Mercy Diary, 300, 1485, & 1572)

The Sacred Heart of Jesus and The Immaculate Heart of Mary Pope John Paul II speaks of the powerful bond that exists between the Two Hearts, "The piety of the Christian people has always very rightly sensed a profound link between devotion to the Blessed Virgin and worship of the Eucharist ...." Mary guides the faithful to the Eucharist. During the last Fatima apparition, Our Blessed Mother Mary asked for greater devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist, including adoration and reparation. She also asked for greater devotion to her Immaculate Heart.

Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Merciful Jesus, I consecrate myself and my family to Your Most Sacred Heart. Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day. I ask that You accept my offering for the intentions of my family and friends and in reparation for my sins. Thank You for all Your gifts, general as well as special: for creation, redemption, the Sacraments, and for all the graces You have given me. Please join my thanks with the continuous thanksgiving You offer to the Father in the Eucharist. Grant me the grace to direct my heart and my mind to You throughout this day. Fill me with Your love and grant that I may be faithful to Your commands, today and always. Amen. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I give myself to Thee through Mary!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee! Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, have mercy on us! Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come!

"A thousand years of enjoying human glory is not worth even an hour spent sweetly communing with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament." (Padre Pio)

St. Anthony of Padua: Doctor of the Church, Patron of the Poor-Feast June 13 St. Anthony (1195-1231), a great defender of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, said "Upon the Altar there takes place the transubstantiation of bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. That Body which the Virgin begot, which hung upon the Cross and was placed in the sepulchre, which rose again the third day, and ascended to the right hand of the Father, this Body the Church today and everyday presents and distributes to her faithful. When the priest speaks the words: This is My Body, the essence of the bread is changed into the Body of Christ."

St. Aloysius Gonzaga: Patron of Youth-Feast June 21 St. Aloysius (1568-1591) came from a wealthy family in Italy. He had a very fervent devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and made frequent visits daily, communing with Jesus for hours. St. Aloysius had a great love of the sick, and often cared for them, imagining that he was tending to the wounds of Jesus. He had an ardent desire to become a priest. St. Aloysius was a Jesuit seminarian when he died, of the plague, on the Eve of Corpus Christi (the Body of Christ), at the age of 23.

St. Thomas More: Patron of Lawyers-Feast June 22 St. Thomas (1478-1535) was a husband, father, lawyer and Chancellor of England. He refused to pass a law making King Henry VIII head of the Catholic Church in England, so he (King Henry) could divorce and remarry. Strengthened by daily reception and adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, St. Thomas upheld his Faith, the Pope, and The Church even though it cost him his life, by martyrdom! St. Thomas More, pray that the laity may always uphold and be true to the Faith and not succumb to the great apostasy!

Prayer for Priests by St. Therese of Lisieux O Jesus, eternal Priest, keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may touch them. Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with your Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood. Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the worlds contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.
