PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION FOR WORLD PEACE!
"Will you remain cold and indifferent? No! If there are societies for the spreading of evil, you will form a society for the spreading of good, a society of adoration . . . . And how often have I repeated it, nothing short of perpetual adoration will start a conflagration . . . . Never should our Lord find Himself alone here." (St. Peter Julian Eymard)
"Yes! Only from the Lord can the world hope for salvation. Only Christ knows the depth of the heart of man: Each one can fully realize himself by receiving the strength of his grace. Supported by this conviction, believers do not lose hope, even when obstacles and attacks against peace multiply.... Above all, we must never cease praying for peace.... Let us entrust this incessant request to Mary.... Predestined to be the Mother of the Savior, at the foot of the cross she became the Mother of every human being. May she obtain for us a serene and fruitful year, during which 'gestures of peace' will be multiplied, which always have the character of prophecy, namely, the humility of someone who does not exhibit himself but proclaims the great ideal of peace" (Pope John Paul II, Jan 1, 2003).
We are on the brink of a very ominous
war indeed! We have had so much talk and advice, so many warnings
and opinions, so many counsels and cautions. Evil prevails throughout the
world today because those who are against God and His ways are willing
to make more sacrifices than those who are for God and His ways!
We shake our heads and say, "but what can we do?" We can PRAY and
WORK to help bring about peace! We can heed the counsels of our Lord
in Sacred Scripture, our Pope, the Vicar of Christ on earth, we can heed
the counsels of the Saints and Holy ones. We can invite more people to
join us in this endeavor! There are well over 1,300 Perpetual Eucharistic
Adoration Chapels in the United States alone, an estimated 2,000 worldwide
that we know of, yet it continues to grow darker in the world! Clearly
God wants to hear from more of humanity, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
We, His people, need to show Him that we really want Him and His ways,
His Eucharistic Presence, His counsel, His protection, His blessings and
graces!!!
Our Lady of Lourdes--Feast, February 11
At Lourdes . . . each afternoon, in the procession of the Blessed Sacrament, the bishop or priest, carrying the monstrance, walks among the sick, blessing them. It is then that the cures and the miracles of grace usually take place. Mary brings her children to her divine Son and it is how he works the miracles, just as he did at Cana (Fr. Paul Hinnebusch). On Thursday, February 11, 1858, Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes, France, beheld the first of eighteen apparitions from Our Lady. Bernadette described Our Lady's appearance, "She was wearing a white tunic cinched at the waist by a blue ribbon which fell down along her side. Her head was covered by a white veil. Her feet were bare and each had a shining yellow rose on it. A white beaded rosary with a gold chain hung from her right arm." Some highlights of these heavenly visits of Our Lady are as follows:
1. At the first apparition Our Lady
encouraged Bernadette to pray the rosary!
2. Our Lady urged the world, to
"Repent! Pray to God for the conversion of sinners!"
3. She requested that people visit
her Son in the Most Blessed Sacrament!
Our Lady has given us the solution:
ask her intercession by praying the rosary and visit her Son in the Most
Blessed Sacrament for the conversion of sinners, healing and salvation!
St. Blase, Bishop and Martyr
(Armenia) d. 316--Feast, February 3
Invoked for the healing of throat
diseases, St. Blase wrote: "Father of mercy and God of all consolation,
graciously look upon me and impart to me the blessing which flows from
this Holy Sacrament [The Eucharist]. Overshadow me with Your loving
kindness, and let this divine Mystery bear fruit in me."
Bl. Josephine Bakhita, Religious
(Africa) 1869-1947--Feast, February 8
Kidnapped at 9 from Sudan, Bl.
Josephine was enslaved, beaten and tortured. She was freed from slavery
at 21 and joined the Canossian Sisters. The Real Presence of Jesus
in the Blessed Sacrament attracted her to the Catholic faith.
Bl. Josephine spent hours in Eucharistic Adoration and, when one
Sister asked if it tired her, she said, "Not at all! I have been
having a wonderful time with Him. He has waited so long for me."
St. Valentine, Martyr
(Italy) c. 269--Feast, February 14
While imprisoned for his faith,
St. Valentine sent his friends notes to remind them that God, Who is Love,
is always with us. "The greatest love story of all time is contained
in a tiny white Host." (Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen)
St. Peter Damian, Bishop and
Cardinal (Italy) 1007-1072--Feast, February 21
He wrote, "Your heart should beat
with confidence in Gods love." "Christ cannot be accused of forgetfulness:
Christ does not enjoin things contrary to His commands. He is the
Bread that came down from heaven, which is daily brought to the table of
the Church, as a heavenly food, which is broken for the forgiveness of
sins, which feeds and nourishes unto life everlasting them that eat the
same."
St. Gabriel Possenti, Patron
of Clerics & Youth (Italy) 1838-1862--Feast, February 27
In his teen years, Gabriel spent
much time with Jesus in the tabernacle, it was through these visits that
he received his calling and began contemplating the religious life.
This Patron of Clerics and Co-patron of Catholic Italian youth, who died
at the age of 24, was handsome, popular, and loved to dance.
Jesus and Our Lady spoke to his heart, confirming his call. He became
a Passionist Brother, taking the name of St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows.
St. Gabriel had a deep devotion to Jesus Hostia and Our Lady of Sorrows.
Bl. Angela of Foligno, Widow
& Mother (Italy) 1248-1309--Feast, February 28
Graced with seven visions of Jesus
in the Holy Eucharist, Bl. Angela, a Third Order Franciscan, was very privileged
to be able to adore the Lord daily. At times she saw Him, in the
Sacred Host in the form of a beautiful child, at times as the Crucified
Savior, or in His glory. Once when a priest was unable to bring her
Communion to adore and receive, the angels brought the Sacred Host to her.
Bl. Angela lived on Holy Communion as her only daily food for twelve
years! She wrote: "It is the Sacrament of Love that excites the soul
to ardent prayer. It stirs up the virtue of impetration and, as it were,
forces God to grant our petition. It deepens the abyss of humility, above
all it enkindles the flame of love in the heart; hence the Sacrament is
the Gift of gifts, and the Grace of graces."
THROUGH THE POWER OF PERPETUAL
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION,
JESUS WILL ESTABLISH HIS KINGDOM
OF PEACE ON EARTH!
