How To Make A Holy Hour
|
| Suggestions and prayers for making a private Holy Hour of Adoration: *Upon entering the Church or Chapel, reverently genuflect (or bow, if you cannot), to Jesus personally present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. *Adoringly, praise the Lord for His Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist and always being there for you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week! *Thank God for His love, His sacrifice, His Eucharistic Presence. Rest in Him. He waits for us in this Sacrament of Love! Jesus speaks to your heart: “Come to Me . . . and I will refresh you.” “How I have longed to see you and spend some quiet time with you, communing with you ‘heart to heart’ as best friends do. I know you are tired and weary from life’s travails, toils and troubles, and those of the world. Dear One, I want you to tell Me all about them—everything. All that concerns you concerns Me. I am a good listener and have all the time in the world. Stay with Me and rest awhile. Let Me fill you with love, joy and peace. I alone can give true peace, a peace that the world cannot give. Tell Me about your needs and your desires. Tell Me about your loved ones, how they are doing and their needs, they are My loved ones too.” *Speak to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, (He may be in the tabernacle or exposed in the monstrance), just as you would speak to your best friend. Tell Him about all of your concerns, needs, your family, loved ones, friends and neighbors. Express sorrow for your faults (sins), and those you have hurt. Ask for the grace to forgive all who have hurt you. Pray for guidance and healing. *Spend some quiet time listening to Him (with your heart and mind). “Dear One, tell Me all that brings you happiness and satisfaction. Tell Me what you like about people, places and things . . . Tell Me, do you love Me?” *Offer your love, your heart, your life (all that you are, have and do) to Him. *Read the Bible, pray the rosary, the chaplet of Divine Mercy or use your favorite prayer book or any other prayers the Holy Spirit inspires you to pray. “Dear One, thank you so much for visiting Me, I love you so, and your companionship gives Me great joy! I will hold you and all of your loved ones and intentions in My heart and mind. I will bring them to Our Father and send the Holy Spirit to strengthen you, and them. Remember, I am always here for you. Please come back again and visit Me very soon!” ADORATION: O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, My God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament! My God, I believe, I adore, I hope in and I love Thee! I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee. O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the Tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended, and by the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners. O Sacrament most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine! Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy Love. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created, and Thou shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who did instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that, by the gift of the same Spirit, we may be always truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Father, Son, Holy Spirit, enlighten me and with Your grace strengthen me! Holy Guardian Angel, excellent adorer of our eternal King hidden in the Holy Eucharist, obtain for me an ever-increasing love and esteem for the Blessed Sacrament. Help me to preserve and to faithfully correspond to the rich sacramental graces which I receive daily. Amen. Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, pray for us! THANKSGIVING: Lord Jesus I adore You! Thank You for Your awesome love which keeps You on earth with us, night and day, in the Holy Eucharist! Thank You for the gift of life! Thank You for my family, friends and loved ones, for the countless graces and blessings that You have showered upon me and every person in the entire world! Thank You for Your ongoing merciful and tender loving care! My God, I love You because of the graces which You have given me! OFFERING: Dear Jesus, I offer myself to You. I am sorry for the times I have offended You and others. I want to make up for my past sins and do the will of God in all things, today and all the days of my life. Please help me to pray, live and work for the honor and glory of God and to help bring others to You in the Holy Eucharist. With Your love and grace I want to help lead many souls to heaven to be with You in total love, peace and joy for all eternity! Amen. Spiritual Communion: My Jesus, I believe that Thou art in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above everything, and I long for Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace Thee as though Thou were already come, and I unite myself entirely to Thee. Never permit me to be separated from Thee. Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, have mercy on me and on the whole world! Anima Christi: Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, heal me. O good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds, hide me. Never let me be separated from Thee. At the hour of my death, call me, and bid me come to Thee. That with Thy saints I may praise Thee for all eternity. Amen. (St. Ignatius of Loyola) PETITIONS: Lord Jesus please help my family, friends and loved ones with our needs and intentions, that are in union with the will of God. Dear Jesus please help all of the sick, suffering, dying (especially those who will die this day) and those who have died. Please remember all those who are in need of God’s love and mercy the most this day and at this very hour. Lord God please enable Our Holy Father to lead our Church in the fullness of the truth of our faith. Send Your Holy Spirit upon all of the clergy and religious of our Holy Mother Church. I pray that they may be holy and true disciples of the faith You have passed down to us, that our Church may remain One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic. St. Catherine of Siena, pray that Christ’s Vicar may always oppose the spirit of the world. Holy Mary, Mother of The Church, pray for us! St. Joseph, Patron of The Universal Church, pray for us! St. Therese of Lisieux, Patroness of Missionaries, pray for us! Peace Prayer of St. Francis: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us! St. Francis of Assisi, messenger of Peace, pray for us! St. Clare of Assisi, adorer of Jesus ‘Prince of Peace,’ pray for us! Praise, adoration, love and thanksgiving be every moment given to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, in all the tabernacles of the world, and unto the end of time! Amen. Prayer for Life: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God and Son of Mary, we praise and thank You for the precious gift of life, Divine Life and human life. We commit ourselves to adoring and proclaiming Your Persona l Presence in the Most Holy Eucharist, for in You alone is the victory of life. We dedicate our lives to protecting and defending all human life: the unborn babies, the sick, the elderly, the poor, and all victims of violence. We implore Your Love and Mercy upon the whole world, for You are the true source of all peace and all hope. By the Life-Giving power of Your Precious Body and Blood, please strengthen and guide us to proclaim, protect, and defend the dignity and sanctity of life. Transform us by Your Merciful Presence in the Blessed Sacrament, that we may all be one with You, and The Father and The Holy Spirit now and forever. Amen. All Holy Angels and Saints in Heaven, pray for us and the whole world! “Don't forget that Jesus is in the tabernacle for you, yes for you, for you alone. He is longing to enter into your heart” (St. Therese, the Little Flower, Doctor of the Church). “O God-Man present in this sacrament for me—what a comfort, what a privilege to know I kneel before God! And to think that this God loves me! . . . Mary, my mother, help me to love him in return” (St. Alphonsus Liguori, Doctor of the Church). “I am quite sure that if we could but once approach the Most Holy Sacrament with great faith and love, it would suffice to make us rich. How much more so if we approach it often!” (St. Teresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church). "Adore and praise the immense love Jesus has for you in this Sacrament of Himself . . . . He comes from heaven for you personally, to offer you companionship and consolation” (St. Peter Julian Eymard, Apostle of the Eucharist). “What has your God left you? He has left you himself, wholly God and wholly man, hidden under the whiteness of this bread. O fire of love! Was it not enough to gift us with creation in your image and likeness, and to create us anew to grace in your Son's blood, without giving us yourself as food, the whole of divine being, the whole of God?” (St. Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church). “One day a rather worldly friend asked him [St. Francis]: ‘Father what do you do during those long hours before the Blessed Sacrament?’ ‘My son in return I ask you what does the poor man do at the rich man's door, the sick man in presence of his physician, the thirsty man at a limpid stream? What they do, I do before the Eucharistic God. I pray. I adore. I love’” (The Life of St. Francis of Assisi, Nesta de Robeck). “Let us not forget to visit . . . Jesus. Let us tell Him we love Him. We might ask Him what He wants of us, what are His wishes. Sometimes we might ask Jesus something for ourselves and something for others. One can speak to Jesus as brother to brother, as friend to friend, more so, since it often happens that men do not understand us, whereas Jesus understands each of us always” (St. Maximilian Kolbe). “You left us Yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and You opened wide Your mercy to us. There is no misery that could exhaust You; You have called us all to this fountain of love, to this spring of God’s compassion. Here is the tabernacle of Your mercy, here is the remedy for all our ills . . . . Here is the living fountain of Your mercy, Here souls receive consolation and refreshment” (St. Faustina). “Kneel down and render the tribute of your presence and devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Confide all your needs to him, along with those of others. Speak to him with filial abandonment, give free rein to your heart, and give him complete freedom to work in you as he thinks best” (St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina). “The fruit of silence is PRAYER, the fruit of prayer is FAITH, the fruit of faith is LOVE, the fruit of love is SERVICE, the fruit of service is PEACE” (Bl.Mother Teresa of Calcutta). “O Holy angels, make me see God on the altar as you see Him in heaven” (Bl. Br. Andre Bessette) |
