The Eucharistic Rosary

“To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate with Mary the face
of Christ” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, 1).  “The contemplation of Christ at
the school of Mary . . .  [is] halting before the ‘Eucharistic face’ of Christ
and pointing out with new force to the Church the centrality of the
Eucharist”
(Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 7).  “Intensify your praying of the Rosary,
privately and in community, to obtain from the Lord those graces that the Church and
humanity especially need.  I invite everyone to do this: children, adults,
young and old, families, parishes and religious communities.  Among the many
intentions, I would not wish to forget that of peace
.  War and injustice have
their origins in the ‘divided’ heart.  ‘Anyone who assimilates the mystery of
Christ—and this is clearly the goal of the Rosary—learns the secret of peace
and makes it his life’s project’ (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, 40).  If the Rosary
keeps pace with the speed of our lives, it can become a privileged instrument
for building peace in the hearts of persons, in families and among peoples.
With Mary, we can obtain everything from her Son Jesus.  Supported by Mary, we
will not hesitate to devote ourselves generously to taking the proclamation
of the Good News to the ends of the earth” (Message for 77th World Mission Day).

There is a profound analogy between the Fiat which Mary said in reply to
the angel, and the Amen which every believer says when receiving the body of
the Lord. Mary was asked to believe that the One whom she conceived “through
the Holy Spirit” was “the Son of God” (Lk 1:30-35). In continuity with the
Virgin's faith, in the Eucharistic mystery we are asked to believe that the same
Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Mary, becomes present in his full humanity
and divinity under the signs of bread and wine.
“Blessed is she who believed” (Lk 1:45). Mary also anticipated, in the
mystery of the incarnation, the Church's Eucharistic faith. When, at the
Visitation, she bore in her womb the Word made flesh, she became in some way a
“tabernacle”–the first “tabernacle” in history–in which the Son of God, still
invisible to our human gaze, allowed himself to be adored by Elizabeth
, radiating
his light as it were through the eyes and the voice of Mary. And is not the
enraptured gaze of Mary as she contemplated the face of the newborn Christ and
cradled him in her arms that unparalleled model of love which should inspire
us every time we receive Eucharistic communion? (55).
Only John would remain at the foot of the Cross, at the side of Mary and
the faithful women. The agony in Gethsemane was the introduction to the agony
of the Cross on Good Friday
. The holy hour, the hour of the redemption of the
world
. Whenever the Eucharist is celebrated at the tomb of Jesus in Jerusalem,
there is an almost tangible return to his “hour”, the hour of his Cross and
glorification. Every priest who celebrates Holy Mass, together with the
Christian community which takes part in it, is led back in spirit to that place and
that hour (4).
“In the humble signs of bread and wine, changed into his body and blood,
Christ walks beside us as our strength and our food for the journey, and he
enables us to become, for everyone, witnesses of hope
. If, in the presence of
this mystery, reason experiences its limits, the heart, enlightened by the grace
of the Holy Spirit, clearly sees the response that is demanded, and bows low
in adoration and unbounded love” (62).
“Let us listen to Mary Most Holy, in whom the mystery of the Eucharist
appears, more than in anyone else, as a mystery of light. Gazing upon Mary, we
come to know the transforming power present in the Eucharist. In her we see the
world renewed in love” (62). (Pope John Paul II, Ecclesia de Eucharistia)

The Joyful Mysteries of The Rosary
1. The Annunciation: The Joy of Saying “Yes” to God.  The “yes” of Mary
gave us The Holy Eucharist, as the body of Jesus was formed from the Immaculate
Heart of His Mother
, from whose flesh Jesus took the flesh He gives us in the
Blessed Sacrament.  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—we say “Yes.”
2. The Visitation of Jesus and Mary: As John the Baptist recognized Jesus
hidden in the womb of Mary, the first tabernacle of the Lord, so we now recognize
Jesus hidden in the Blessed Sacrament, the mystery of our faith. With each
‘Hail Mary’ we pray—we trust.
3. The Birth of Jesus in Bethlehem: The Holy Eucharist is the continuation of
Christ’s incarnation on earth, the mystery of The Eucharist gives us the joy
of having Christmas every day! When we come to the Blessed Sacrament we come
to Bethlehem, a name which means ‘house of bread.’
  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we
pray—we unite ourselves to the perfect adoration of Jesus through Mary.
4. The Presentation and Consecration of Jesus In the Temple: In our total
consecration to Mary, she takes all our thoughts, words, and actions and makes
them pleasing to Jesus by purifying them in her love, clothing them in her
merits, and presenting them to His Eucharistic Heart.  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we
pray through Mary—“totally Yours, Totus Tuus.”
5. The Finding of Jesus In The Temple: Mary found Jesus after He had been
lost for three days. What unbearable pain she felt in losing Him! What
indescribable joy she experienced in finding Him! The whole life of Mary is now spent in
helping all mankind to find Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament!
  With each ‘Hail
Mary’ we pray— for the joy of redemption.

The Luminous Mysteries of The Rosary
1. The Baptism of Jesus: The Eucharist is Jesus, The Lamb of God (Jn 1:29)
and Light of the world (Jn 8:12), of Whom the Father says: “Thou art My beloved
Son; with Thee I am well pleased” (Mk 1:11).  With each Hail Mary we pray—to
be faithful to our Baptismal calling as true children of God.
2. The Wedding at Cana: This mystery reminds us that we are all called to the
wedding feast that lasts forever, where we will adore Jesus eternally.  Let
us come to Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament, that He may refresh and restore
us.  With each Hail May we pray—to be silent and hear Our Lady’s words “Do
whatever He tells you”
(Jn 2:5).
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God: In the Holy Eucharist “the Kingdom
of God is at hand” (Mk 1:15).  Here in the Sacred Host Jesus waits to bring
good news to the poor, freedom to prisoners, sight to the blind, and liberty to
those oppressed in mind, body or spirit (see Lk 4:18-19).  With each ‘Hail
Mary’ we pray—Jesus, may Your Eucharistic Reign of peace and love come!
4. The Transfiguration: When the apostles beheld the luminous Face of Christ,
they were afraid.  Jesus reassured them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear”
(Mt 17:7).  In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus waits to give us light and peace.  With
each Hail Mary we pray—to trust in the power of His healing presence and
transforming love.
5. The Institution of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper: “He loved them
to the end” (Jn 13:1).  Jesus gave us His holy Body and Blood.  Jesus remains
with us always, that we may never be alone.   Jesus longs to shower us with His
blessings and love.  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—for the grace to visit
Jesus one hour each week that, like St. John, we may rest on His Heart and
experience the depths of His everlasting love.

The Sorrowful Mysteries of The Rosary
1. The Agony In The Garden: The Agony He suffered was the realization that
the Holy Eucharist would be rejected by so many and appreciated by so few. To
reject the Holy Eucharist is to reject Jesus Himself. He pleaded “Could you not
watch one hour with Me?”
With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—may Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament be Adored!

2. The Scourging At The Pillar: The Eucharist flows from Our Lord’s Passion.
It is the sweet fruit of all His sufferings: “You were delivered by Christ’s
blood beyond all price, the blood of a spotless unblemished Lamb.”  With each
‘Hail Mary’ we pray—to be pure in thought and deed.
3. The Crowning of Thorns: We meditate on the crown of thorns not only around
the head of Jesus, but also around His Sacred Heart. It is there that He
suffers more now than He did during His entire Passion, due to the ingratitude of
the world toward His love in The Eucharist.  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—
in reparation for the indifference and ingratitude.
4. Jesus Carries His Cross: Jesus kissed and embraced His Cross for love of
us because by His holy cross He would become one with us in The Eucharist. The
Eucharist is the gift of Our Lord’s Passion. With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—
help us to fulfill our daily duties in life.
5. The Crucifixion And Death Of Jesus On The Cross:  There is nothing more
that Jesus can give us than the complete gift of Himself in this Holy Eucharist.
He gave up His Body on the cross for love of us that He may give His Body to
us in The Holy Eucharist to be one with us forever in everlasting glory!
With
each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—draw all men to Your Eucharistic Heart.

The Glorious Mysteries of The Rosary
1. The Resurrection: Jesus is alive today in The Blessed Sacrament!  The
Eucharist is Our Risen Lord
, where all the power of His resurrection flows out to
all who come into His Eucharistic Presence, increasing within us His very
image and likeness.  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—Jesus, increase our faith in
Your Real Presence.
2. The Ascension: Mary is the perfect adorer of the Sacred Humanity of Jesus
in The Eucharist, The Body Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Blessed Lord. After
His bodily ascension into Heaven, Mary spent her whole life before Jesus in
the Holy Eucharist. With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray— we beg You, with Mary,
bring hope to all mankind.
3. The Descent Of The Holy Spirit Upon The Apostles And Our Lady:  The
apostles were gathered around Mary in prayer when the Holy Spirit descended upon
them as tongues of fire, that same fire of divine love that inflames the Heart of
Jesus in The Eucharist
, where the very “love of God is poured into our
hearts.”  With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—Come And Renew The Face Of The Earth!
4. The Assumption: Mary is assumed into Heaven and Her Heart is made forever
one with the Heart of Jesus. These two Hearts beat as one. Where Jesus is,
Mary is also. She is called Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament. With each ‘Hail
Mary’ we pray—for union with The Eucharistic Heart of Jesus!

5. The Coronation: Mary is raised to the height of glory because she allowed
God to bring her to the depths of humility. Jesus, through Mary we humbly
surrender our hearts to You, in response to The Eucharist where You give Your
Heart to us. With each ‘Hail Mary’ we pray—for The Triumph Of the Immaculate
Heart Of Mary, and The Reign Of Your Most Sacred Heart in every heart “That God
May Be All In All!”

How to Pray the Rosary: Make the Sign of  the Cross,  say  the Apostles Cree
d, one ‘Our Father,’ three ‘Hail Mary’s’ and one ‘Glory Be.’  Each of the
five decades of the Rosary begin with an ‘Our Father,’  followed by ten ‘Hail
Mary’s,’ and one ‘Glory Be.’
Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and
earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the
Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose
again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, sits at the right hand of God, the
Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of
Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
Our Father: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom
come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against
us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of grace! the Lord is with Thee; blessed art thou
among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother
of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory Be: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As
it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Prayers after each decade: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the
fires of hell.  Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy
mercy.  O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all
thanksgiving be every moment Thine!
Hail Holy Queen: Hail, Holy Queen Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness
and our hope!  To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.  To thee do we
send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn then,
most gracious advocate thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  O clement, O loving, O
sweet Virgin Mary.  Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.  That we may be made
worthy of the promises of Christ.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist, I
consecrate my body and soul to be entirely one with your heart, being sacrificed at
every instant on all the altars of the world and giving praise to the Father,
pleading for the coming of His kingdom.  Please receive this humble offering
of myself.  Use me as you will for the glory of the Father and the salvation of
souls.
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and tender Mother of all people, I
consecrate myself to your Immaculate Heart, and recommend to you my family, my
country, and the whole human race.  Please accept my consecration, dearest Mother,
and use me as you wish, to accomplish your designs upon the world.  O
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth, rule over me, and teach me how to
allow the Heart of Jesus to rule and triumph in me and around me, as it has
ruled and triumphed in you.  Amen.  Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Heart of
Mary, protect us!
